Topic: Family Law - Legal Paraprofessional Work

This CLE will cover information and training related to being a Legal Paraprofessional working on family law matters. Divorce and family law in Minnesota cover various legal issues related to marriage, family relationships, and children. These can include divorce proceedings, child custody and parenting time rights, focusing on the children's best interests, child support, spousal maintenance (alimony) and division of property.

A Legal Paraprofessional does initial consultations and intakes on family law matters. She does mediations and settlement negotiations, drafts legal documents, she gives legal advice to clients, attends hearings with clients, with the exception of a trial. As the attorney I oversee what she does by reviewing documents prior to submitting them to the court, by discussing cases as they progress and I trust that she will come to me if she has any questions or concerns.

Speaker: Perry A. Berg, Attorney at Law

Mr. Berg is an attorney at Patton, Hoversten & Berg, PA located in Waseca, MN. His practice areas are: Collections; Bankruptcy; Personal Injury; Family Law; Business Law; and Real Estate.
