Topic: Unemployment Insurance Law - From the Initial Determination to the Court of Appeals

Attendees will be provided with an overview of the administrative process of unemployment appeals, from filing, to initial determination, to hearing, request for reconsideration. The presentation will include practical tips, as well as an overview of the statutory framework. After discussing the administrative process, the presenters will discuss important rules, tips, and tricks for administrative appeals on topics ranging from initiating the appeal, gathering and using the administrative record, brief writing, oral argument, and post-decision procedures

Prior to joining Winthrop & Weinstine, Kyle Kroll clerked for The Honorable Joan N. Ericksen in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
In 2020, he was named Minnesota’s “Outstanding New Lawyer of the Year,” and in 2021 was recognized as one of Minnesota’s “Up & Coming Attorneys.” Kyle strives to represent all clients in accordance with the highest standards of quality and excellence.
Kyle serves as a leader in state and national bar associations, and teaches the next generation of lawyers as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School.
