Topic: Data Privacy
Andy Taylor will be speaking on the topic of data privacy. His talk will include a series of high-profile federal enforcement actions against companies for data privacy and security incidents, new state laws governing consumer data privacy, and a major European court case limiting the transfer of personal information between the U.S. and the EU are just a few recent examples of events shaping the quickly evolving field of privacy law. Join Andy Taylor, Compeer Financials’ privacy officer and digital legal operations team leader, for a discussion about the shifting privacy landscape in the U.S. and how privacy is emerging as a major topic of focus for companies and law firms seeking to comply with the law, meet consumer expectations, and transform digitally.
Speaker: Andy Taylor
Andy Taylor leads the digital legal operations team at Compeer Financial. In his role, he oversees privacy compliance and the organization’s records and information management program. From 2010-2019, he worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, including on the staff of the Financial Services Committee and as chief economic advisor on the Foreign Affairs Committee, where he was responsible for international cyber and technology policy. While working in Congress, he helped craft legislation establishing the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation – the newest agency of the Federal Government – to expand access to private capital for development projects in emerging markets, providing an orderly resolution mechanism to Puerto Rico’s $70 billion public debt crisis, and incentivizing the development of new treatments for children with rare pediatric diseases. He is a part-time student at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and serves on the Board of Directors of The Borgen Project, a non-profit dedicated to making poverty alleviation a focus of U.S. foreign policy.
