Topic: Ethics for Paralegals
Join us for a session on the principles for ethics and conduct to which every paralegal should aspire. The presentation will discuss a paralegal's ethical obligations in relation to the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct. While the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct do not directly regulate paralegals, the application of the rules can implicate paralegal conduct. During the presentation we will discuss different scenarios and past attorney discipline cases that involved paralegal conduct.
Speaker: Amy Halloran, Assistant Director, Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility
Amy joined the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility in August 2015 as an Assistant Director. As an Assistant Director, she is responsible for investigating and prosecuting allegations of lawyer misconduct and enforcing the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct.
Amy received her B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point. She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2009. She deployed as a platoon leader to Iraq in 2006, and in 2008 worked for the United States Corps of Engineers in Kuwait. Upon returning to Minnesota after active duty, Amy joined the Minnesota National Guard. She commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Support Company, 84th Troop Command in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Amy received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 2012. After admission to the Minnesota Bar, she worked as an associate attorney at a Twin Cities law firm representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation administrative proceedings.
