Topic: Dementia Friends Training

Dementia Friends is a global movement that is striving to create more dementia friendly communities by changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom, Dementia Friends is underway in Minnesota and across the United States. By helping everyone in a community understand what dementia is and how it affects people, each of us can make a difference for someone living with dementia.

As paralegals in the estate planning, estate administration, conservatorship or guardianship fields, this friendly and interactive session will increase our understanding of dementia and will help to identify signs or symptoms to look for as we work with the aging population. The session will also discuss the small things that you can do to make a difference for people affected by dementia.

ALTHOUGH YOU ARE MORE THEN WELCOME TO ATTEND REMOTELY, THIS SESSION IS MOST EFFECTIVE WHEN ATTENDED IN PERSON.

Speakers: Dementia Friends Champions Amy Lieberman and Annette Sandler

Amy Lieberman is the President/Owner of Estate Matters, which is an estate administration business. She also served on the St. Louis Park Alzheimer’s Action team, and currently serves on the Twin Cities Jewish Community Alzheimer’s Task Force and is a Board member of Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis.

Annette Sandler is the director of Aging Services at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS). Annette served on the State leadership group for Dementia Friendly Communities, and is the co-chair of the St. Louis Park Alzheimer’s Action team and co-chair of the Twin Cities Jewish Community Alzheimer’s Task Force.
