After graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2000, he worked as a staff attorney in the U.S. District Court of Nevada. He advised all district judges on habeas corpus, civil rights litigation, and death penalty cases. In November 2001, Walter was hired as a staff attorney in the Minnesota Supreme Court in the State Court Administrator’s Office.
