The 2017 Tax Bill introduced significant changes to individual, corporate, and gift and estate taxes. We will cover these changes as they relate to estate planning clients, as well as key opportunities and challenges that clients now face in light of the tax changes.  This session will also cover the Minnesota 2018 legislative session, proposals to address the federal tax changes and other estate planning related legislative proposals.

Our speaker Samantha L. Heaton, JD, Harvard Law School, is an attorney at Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., who practices in the areas of estate and gift planning, including charitable giving, as well as probate and trust administration.  She has extensive experience working with families to craft tailored plans for each family’s circumstances and goals.  Samantha focuses on preparing comprehensive estate and gift plans that are implemented through wills, trust agreements and related documents.  She represents high-net worth individuals in charitable gift planning, tax planning, and probate and trust administration, and also works with private foundations and other nonprofit organizations in entity formation, obtaining tax-exempt status, and various governance and compliance matters. Outside of work, Samantha is the Secretary and Program Chair of Bolder Options, a local youth mentoring nonprofit, and serves on her church council.

CLE Credit will be applied for.
